Start the tour at Bang Pa-In summer Palace, visit famous temples in Ayutthaya, ancient palace and enjoy sightseeing along Ayutthaya Historical Park.

What to expect

Visit Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, a complex of royal residences first built in around the 17th century to serve as a summer palace of Ayutthaya kings. The palace was restored by King Rama IV. Once in Ayutthaya, visit Wat Phananchoeng, Wat Yai Chaimongkhol, Wat Phra Sri San Phet and Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit and explore the ruins in Ayutthaya Historical Park before return to Bangkok.

Itinerary

    Depart for Ayutthaya, one of Thailand’s major historical attractions.

  • 09:30

    Visit Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, a complex of royal residences first built in around the 17th century to serve as a summer palace of Ayutthaya kings. It was later abandoned and ruined until King Mongkut (Rama IV) restored the complex. A number of impressive buildings can be found in the Palace complex, built in very different architectural styles, some in classical Thai, some Chinese and some European design.

  • 10:30

    Transfer to Wat Phanancherng, witness the oldest large cast bronze Buddha image in Ayutthaya. Visit Wat Yai Chaimongkol.  It is famed for an impressively large statue of the Reclining Buddha inside the temple compound and most spectacularly, a huge chedi swathed in golden cloth set in a courtyard which is lined by Buddha images all wearing saffron robes.

  • 12:30

    Lunch at riverside restaurant.

  • 13:30

    Visit Viharn Phra Mongkhon Bophit where the large bronze cast Buddha image is situated. The building was badly destroyed by fire during the fall of Ayutthaya, it was later reconstructed in the Ayutthaya architectural style in King Rama V period. Continue to visit Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the most important temple within the Royal Palace compound. Explore Ayutthaya Ancient Palace, was original built King U-Thong in the 14 th century, and was expanded over the years. These pavilions were completely destroyed in 1767, leaving only brick foundation, porticos and walls.

    Leave from Ayutthaya pass green paddy fields, villages, and temples then return to Bangkok.

  • 17:00

    Transfer back to your hotel in Bangkok.
